Still Frozen . . .
Hello, I’ve been away shooting for a couple days, here’s a shot I took this weekend. While it is clear that snow and ice still cover the lake, spring is on its way. Temperatures are warming a bit, and the days are getting longer. The birds are starting to show and the Park Service is beginning work on opening the roads. I’ll try to keep you updated with photos and information about park road conditions, flowers and wildlife as the spring progresses into summer. So, be sure to check back often.
Roads still are all closed, with some access into the park to Lake McDonald Lodge. Past that, you need to walk or ski. . . The sun road opens usually between the last week in May, and the middle of June. It can be as much as a week earlier or later depending on snow packs from one year to the next. This year, I predict it will open after June 1, 2008 but how long after that I can not tell yet, plowing usually begins the first week of April. .
